Shamans operate in voluntary, thrilled trance states, which modify their awareness to take a trip to the realms of the invisible worlds.
Their ability to acquire details and make changes in the invisible worlds depends on the working relationships they develop with spirits there. In this sense, shamanism is a relationship-based practice of making changes in unnoticeable worlds to effect healing, of individuals or neighborhoods, in the realm of common reality.
For some individuals, such shamanic practice is part of their dominant culture, for others it is directly inconsistent. Some people are intuitively assisted to look for aid from a modern shaman, often when other choices have been tired, without even understanding what a shaman is or how they work.
